In October 2015, Dariya Pilipenko was invited by ERSU seminary to become ERSU's Assistant for Christian Education, helping Dr. Quarterman. She is a school teacher who is an active member of the Presbyterian Church of the Big City in Kiev.
Dariya was first tasked to visit all our Presbyterian and Reformed churches in Ukraine, interviewing the pastors and teachers, hearing more of their needs and interests. After we identified several key educators, we organized the first Consulting Day in Lviv. [Read here]
This summer, Dariya has been participating in an internship in Lviv, where she is further connecting with Church educators.

Melinda Wallace, a missionary of MTW in Kherson and Odessa, accepted the job offered her by ERSU as Assistant in Christian Education. Her job was to visit the churches and connect with the teachers and pastors, helping assess the needs in our churches. Along with Dr. Quarterman, she developed and carried out surveys. These were also distributed at the Fall Leadership conference in Odessa. The information was tabulated, leading to further development of plans for the CE committee. Although Melinda has since retired, we express out thanks for her assiduous labors for the Lord in Ukraine!
Formation of CE Committee
At their biannual meeting in September 2015, the Board of the Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine (ERSU) approved a Statement on Christian Education and approved the formation of a Committee of Christian Education. This committee is to serve the educational needs of our churches in Ukraine, using the contacts and resources of ERSU Seminary.
Consultation Day, Lviv, 5-6 July 2016, Holy Trinity Church office
Eleven teachers and educators participated in our first Christian Education Consultation Day, to give some orientation and direction to our CE Project.
Each participant shared what they have done in education in their local setting. Most shared about Sunday school, telling what materials they had used or developed. We spoke of the challenges and blessings.
